Design

I LOVE design! That would probably be why it is my major in school. Ha ha. So here I will show you guys my design projects. Well the ones I like at least. I will be adding my projects from last semester when I am home over Christmas since they aren't on my computer. They go from newest to oldest. Enjoy. You can also find them HERE in the gallery (except for the magazine).

Brochures

For this project we had to make 3 brochures for a hospital. One for a Well Baby Program, Stress Program, and Senior Health Program. All we really needed was pictures and the text. I used 2 pictures that I took myself (the pink flower and the yellow flower) and then I found the cactus picture on deviantART. He liked my pictures, but said I needed more hierarchy with my text. I can never get that right, because I feel weird making big differences in type sizes and stuff. But thats what he wants us to do.

Wild Things Inc.

For this project we had to create a logo for Wild Things Inc., a furniture compant, that had to do with nature because they wanted it to be natural. Then we had to make an invoice, letterhead, business card, envelope, pattern paper and a bag. So I chose a hummingbird for my animal. It took me a really long time to get it rght, and it still isn't perfect, but its okay. And then I kept the type really simple and chose blue and green for my colors (the grass and sky, and also most hummingbirds are green). Even the meaner teacher liked miy project! I was so excited. So I am pretty happy with how this proect worked out. (somehow I lost my finished file so I just took a picture of my board)

Basics Tags

This project was fun. We had to make hang tags for a clothing company called Basics Inc. We had to make tags for male, female and unisexx (dont know who makes unisex clothes but oh well). The Target Market was "Junior high school through college, male and female, fashion conscious. We were only allowed to use 2 colors per tag. I wanted to make mine different from other clothing companies but sorta the same. So I chose a unicorn for the girl tag, a phoenix for the male and then I mixed them both together for the unisex.

Magazine

For this project we had to do a Rolling Stone type magazine, we had to use the logo and pick a music person and I picked Wizard Rock, of course. So I have to thank Lizz and Gabriella for pictures they gave me and also the WizRockLopedia for one of the articles and Leaky's Jingle Spells Charity Drive for the other.

Zebra Books

For this project we had to make a main logo and 3 sub-logos for a publishing company called Zebra Books. We were allowed to use 3 colors in addition to black and were allowed to use secondary images (not connected to the letters) as long as they weren't over powering.

I really like how this one turned out. It changed a lot over the course of working on it. Originally there was no book, but then I made a really boxy looking one and my teacher said try to make it more abstract so that is how I got the final one. I like how the text looks, thats always my favorite parts of things, the type, which is good because this was for the Design Typography class. I tried to keep it really simple, because I like more simple things. Other people in the class had really elaborate designs but they didn't really appeal to me.

Natural Foods

For this project we had to do a stacked and a single line logo for Natural Foods Market. And we could have no images unless they were part of the text. And it could have NO color, just black and white. So it was kinda hard.

I don't really like the leaf on it, I originally had a different but my teacher made me change it. But oh well, what can I do?

Fun Buttons

This was our end of the year project and was meant to be fun. We had to make 3 buttons for the design program. My favorite button is actually a part of this layout, sorta. Just without the text. I really enjoyed myself on this one. The middle one is just so cute, and if you didn't notice it says Bee Creative, get it ! =D

Grade: A
Sorry for the blurryness of the picture, I couldnt find the CD with the file on it.

Typefaces International

For this project we had to make a logo for a company, Typefaces International, and also place it on a letterhead, envelope, CD and business card. I liked this project but it didn't come out as good as I would have liked. I do love the logo though, ha ha.

Emotion/Movement

For this project we had to show emotions/movement with just the letter A. And it had to be black and white. It was difficult but I really enjoyed making this. My favorite one is SHY. It's just so cute, ha ha.

Design Principles

This was my first project as a Graphic Design major. Our first semester at the school was just a qualifying course and we weren't accepted into the program yet, you had to be chosen. So the real first projects weren't really design, they were more to see how creative we could be. So this was my first official project!
We had to show each of the 12 design principles using only wedges for this project. And it had to be black and white. The design principles you see are; rhythm, unity, economy, repetition, similarity, concentration, radiation, gradation, anomaly, texture, closure, and direction. These principles are CRUCIAL to being a designer. You need to be able to use them while making logos and many other things.
